What is your passion?
A question that is not always easy to answer, meaby you have a hobby or things that you like more than others. But a passion is something else.
A passion is something that you truly care about and can’t stop thinking about.
It can be a curse or a lifesaver depending on how it consumes you.
For most people having a passion is a good thing, and something that can guide your life in a positive direction.
For me that passion is fly fishing and all the things circulating around fly fishing.
So if you are not already fly fishing, maybe this could be your new passion.
If you have no idea about what fly fishing is, then go to youtube and type fly fishing, then you will most likely find a video with a guy standing in a river, waving a long stick back and forward.
Do not lose heart by thinking this looks super boring, this can not be my new passion.
Allow me to widen the perspective of fly fishing.
Standing in a river waving a stick is part of it, but there is so much more to it.
Fly Fishing is an adventure sport with almost endless possibilities, it can be scaled up and down as you like it, or however your life allows it.
It is a sport that can be done close to home, or on the other side of the world chasing extioc species.
It is a sport that can be very costly but also very cheap, the idea that fly fishing is a sport for the privileged man/women could not be further from the truth.
In reality it does not cost much to begin with, a decent rod and line and some flies is almost all you need, don’t spend much on a reel it is mainly just to hold the line in place.
When I say Fly Fishing is an adventure sport, then what does that mean?
In simple terms, I say this because exploring and going to new places is always some sort of an adventure, and the reason you go to these places is to go fly fishing in the local rivers, lakes or ponds.
So you can consider Fly fishing as the main reason for going out and exploring places that you would most likely not go to, if you did not have a specific purpose to do so.
Fly fishing then becomes the entire reason why you got to experience that specific place, or even culture.
And taking these memories back home and reflecting upon them, will sooner or later turn fly fishing into your new passion:-) And now I have not even talked about the adrenaline rush of actually catching a fish on the fly, the perfect fly cast, and the aspect of fly tying, all topics that I have to leave in order not to turn this blog post into a full size article.
So no more words to say other than, go out there and find your passion………
